In November, Digitalum hosted the last AEM Developer Meetup BE #6 of 2019.
About 30 AEM adepts visited the pyramid office in Lummen to connect and share experiences from the trenches.
Security for AEM
Adobe is clearly leading in the DXP domain. Have a look at the latest Gartner Magic Quadrant and Forrester Wave for Digital Experience Platforms. But even a top class platform does not auto- deploy to a production environment with all the necessary configuration options set correctly. Human (expert) intervention is needed and that’s where most of the pitfalls arise. Nowadays, the threat of your website and customer data being hacked is real and the potential business damage not to be underestimated.
To create awareness and share solutions with the AEM community, Dylan Reniers (AEM Architect at Digitalum) presented the insights of a recent study performed by Digitalum that included 375+ AEM based sites in the Benelux.

Upgrading to Adobe Experience Manager 6.5
Toon Mine (AEM Solution Architect at CapGemini) shared his experience with upgrading two client’s AEM instances from version 6.3 to 6.5. Since no one in the audience already performed such an upgrade to AEM 6.5, Toon’s presentation proved to be very insightful. After introducing the architectural overview of both environments, Toon elaborated on the differences between the intended scope and final efforts. His advice included to certainly not underestimate the Coral 3 UI migration. For other tips on AEM Health checks, Dispatcher 2.0 configuration and repository restructuring, these are all included in the slide handouts.
Adobe Experience League
Pieter van Helvoirt concluded the meetup with an update on Adobe Experience League, the online guided learning platform of Adobe, specifically aimed at enabling AEM experts with relevant content that’s uniquely tailored to the individual needs – and free for everyone. More information on the Experience League can be found in this Adobe blog post.
